RAISEfashion x ARF Internship

As part of RAISEfashion’s mission to promote inclusivity and racial equity within the fashion industry, we are working with the #ANTIRACISMFUND (ARF) to launch our fourth comprehensive 10-week professional development program for students, partnering with 13 Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The goal of the program is to provide summer internship opportunities to students who identify as Black in order to serve as an influential step in building a career in fashion.

In an ongoing effort to support students in overcoming the barriers many encounter in gaining entry to the fashion industry, this program is designed to provide exceptional experiences and learning opportunities at some of the leading companies in the industry. Internships will take place in the summer of 2023 at leading fashion and retail companies in New York City and Los Angeles such as Bloomingdale’s, FRAME, ITB Worldwide, Jonathan Simkhai, Lafayette 148, Louis Vuitton, Pyer Moss, Rachel Comey, Richemont, Saks Fifth Avenue, Staud, Shopbop, Tory Burch, and Veronica Beard across a wide variety of business functions including buying, planning, e-commerce, finance, merchandising, digital marketing, operations, product design, public relations, sales, and social media. Students will be selected based on prior work and academic experience, personal application, demonstration of willingness to engage in the fashion and retail industry, and desire to gain experiential learning opportunities while positively impacting the business. RAISEfashion will work with each company to match the top qualifying candidates for each role.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

  • Paid Internship: Internship (in-person, virtually, or both) with one of our corporate partners. All internships will be paid at the state minimum wage or higher.

  • Stipend: A cost-of-living stipend, to help defray student’s summer living expenses, will be disbursed directly to 2024 summer interns by ARF in the form of a grant. Final grant amounts will be determined at close of fundraising initiatives, by March 31, 2024. While there will be no withholdings from the stipend, the stipend received may be taxable income, in whole or in part, for the recipient. We encourage stipend recipients to seek advice from a qualified tax professional.

  • Mentorship: Dedicated RAISEfashion Mentor to provide one-on-one mentorship throughout the duration of the internship program.

  • “Buddy” Program: Dedicated individuals from ARF available to each intern to provide peer-to-peer advice.

  • Education: RAISEfashion to host monthly programming and networking events with industry experts and leaders.

  • Networking: Opportunities to interact with industry professionals and peers.
